This site is the gathering place for a group of catalogs where the dies of the Canadian large cents struck in many of the years of the Victorian period are or will be described. The principal author is Dr. James A. Haxby, former Deputy Curator of Canada’s National Currency Collection and who has studied Canadian large cents for over 50 years.

Organization

Each date is organized as a separate catalog. You can can access information relating to a given date through the CATALOGS tab at the top. The CATALOGS tab offers the various catalogs the identification methods for the dates given, along with detailed descriptions and photos for each die. We’ve produced the catalog for only one date, 1888, but the others are currently in production. Enjoy!
